Arsenal should sign former Liverpool forward Sadio Mane from Bayern Munich in the summer transfer window, according to Emmanuel Frimpong.
The Gunners are having a brilliant season in the Premier League with Mikel Arteta’s leaders five points clear of second-placed Manchester City, who have two games in hand on their title rivals.
Arsenal have dropped six points in their last three matches with the Gunners travelling to Man City on Wednesday in a potential title-deciding match at the Etihad Stadium.
The Gunners have become a much more attractive option for players under Arteta and whatever happens this season they will be able to offer potential signings Champions League football.
Former Gunners midfielder Frimpong thinks Bayern Munich forward Mane could be a good option for Arsenal with reports claiming the Bundesliga side will look to sell him this summer.
Mane has contributed seven goals and four assists in 21 Bundesliga matches, not the impact the Germans had in mind, while he had a dressing-room bust-up with Leroy Sane after the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final against Bayern Munich.
Frimpong told Lord Ping: “Sadio Mane would be a great signing for Arsenal, especially with the young players that we have, he will be able to play on the wings or down the middle.
“We have players like Trossard, Martinelli and Saka and if we had Mane in the mix to get us through tough competitions, we would be powerful. I can imagine Sadio Mane in an Arsenal shirt for sure.”
On Mane’s bust-up with Mane, Frimpong added: “Bust ups happen in football all the time. I remember at Arsenal two players got into one behind closed doors. You just have to brush it off and move on. In any relationship whether it is marriage, or friendship you will have those arguments with each other and Leroy Sane and Sadio Mane aren’t any different.
“You would think that because of their similar names (Sane and Mane) they would get along, but unfortunately they are not! I’m hearing that Mane apologised and they have moved on, I think that is all that matters.”
One player Arsenal are definitely keen on signing is Celta Vigo midfielder Gabri Veiga with Spanish publication AS (via the Daily Express) insisting that the Gunners are ‘ready to hijack’ Manchester United’s move for the youngster.
Celta Vigo already ‘accept’ that Veiga will be leaving in the summer transfer window with the 20-year-old valued at £35m by the La Liga side.
