San Antonio FC Brings Back Cristian Parano for 2023 Season

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio FC drew Phoenix Rising FC 1-1 tonight in front of a sold-out Toyota Field, coming from behind to earn a point and move to 3-1-3 with 12 points.

After a scoreless first half, Phoenix struck in the 49th minute for the match’s first goal.


SAFC countered in the 59th minute, with Cristian Parano drawing and converting a penalty to level the score at 1-1.

The 1-1 score held despite SAFC outshooting Phoenix 19-3, allowing just two shots on target for the fourth-consecutive match.

San Antonio FC heads to Nashville for a mid-week US Open Cup matchup against MLS side Nashville SC. Kickoff on Wednesday is set for 7:30 p.m. CT, and can be streamed on the B/R app.

Postgame Notes:

Defender Isaiah Parker made his first start with SAFC, after making his debut as a second-half substitute last week.

Cristian Parano’s goal in the 59th minute was his first of the season, and 13th with SAFC.

The announced attendance of 7,585 marked the club’s third sellout of the season, with seventh of the last eight USL Championship matches at Toyota Field selling out.

Midfielder Jorge Hernandez made his SAFC debut, entering as a second-half substitute.

San Antonio extends the team’s home unbeaten streak to 22 matches, with the last loss coming over a calendar year ago.
