Moises Caicedo names ‘dream’ club as four future teammates hailed ahead of £80m ‘next step’

Moises Caicedo, Brighton, April 2023

Brighton star Moises Caicedo has named his “dream” club ahead of a summer transfer window in which Manchester United and Arsenal are thought to be interested in signing him.

Caicedo has been one of many Brighton stars to have caught the eye through his performances under Roberto De Zerbi this season.

Arsenal reportedly made a number of offers to sign the Ecuador international in January, but their final £70m bid fell short of the Seagulls’ valuation.

It’s thought the Gunners have eased their interest in recent weeks with Declan Rice now their top midfield target, which could potentially have cleared the way for United, who have also been credited with interest as Erik ten Hag looks to continue to revamp his squad at Old Trafford.

It’s possible a move within the Premier League awaits for Caicedo, who will reportedly be allowed to leave Brighton for £80, but he told SER that his ultimate goal is to represent Real Madrid.

“I’m doing things very well now; so why not join Real Madrid one day and win the Champions League? It’s my biggest dream.

“It’s very nice to see how Madrid plays and the personality that players like Vinicius [Junior], [Eduardo] Camavinga, [Federico] Valverde have. I also really enjoy watching [Toni] Kroos. To play for Madrid you have to work very hard.”

Asked about the pressure that comes with all the Premier League interest in his services, Caicedo insisted he knows how to keep his cool and focus on having fun.

“The only thing I want is to have fun on the pitch,” he stressed. “The pressure doesn’t affect me.

“What I want to do now is to win titles and listen to the Champions League anthem, it’s my next step. I might even cry when I hear it.”

Liverpool were also thought to be keen on the 21-year-old, but given their financial constraints, and the need for a major overhaul at Anfield, it’s thought Caicedo has been removed from their shortlist, which has been whittled down to five.
