Two-Hour Rain Delay Dampens Courage In Loss At Gotham Saturday

NC Courage Acquire Defender Emily Fox in Trade with Racing Louisville

HARRISON, N.J. – The North Carolina Courage fell on the road to Gotham FC, 1-0, Saturday night on a rainy, chilly evening at Red Bull Arena. The Courage are now 1-3-0 on the year while Gotham improves to 3-1-0.


After a fairly even first half, lightning and heavy rain forced a two-hour delay before the second half could begin. Both teams had some threats, but it was the home side that broke through late. With ten minutes to go, Yazmin Ryan angled down the right wing and centered a ball for Lynn Williams, who tucked the one-timer into the corner netting.

Clara Robbins made her first career start and first NWSL regular season appearance while Rikke Madsen and Brittany Ratcliffe made their first starts of the season

At half time, the match was delayed over two hours due to severe weather.

Next Match: The North Carolina Courage wrap up their three-game road swing with NWSL regular season action against the Houston Dash next Friday, April 28, with an 8:30 p.m. ET kickoff at Shell Energy Stadium.
