Quotes:

Head Coach Alen Marcina

(On the loss…)

“We’re collectively disappointed in the result. It was more about what we didn’t do, rather than what Louisville did. In the first half, we didn’t perform the pressing actions that were necessary to be successful. In the second half we did, and we dominated the second half. We tripled their amount of shots. It wasn’t our night. We’ll learn from this, move on and we’ll be better for it.”

(On moving on from the loss…)

“You never like to lose of course. I think the message is very very clear – you stick to the gameplan and we position ourselves to be successful.”

Midfielder Jacori Hayes

(On the loss…)

“We had a better second half than we did the first half. We talked about things in halftime and came out a little bit stronger. It’s one of those we wish, if we had played like that in the first half or the rest of the game, we might’ve come out of here with three points. We learn from this one and look forward to Phoenix next weekend.”

(On halftime adjustments made…)

“We just needed to be a little more aggressive and press on guys, and not give them as much time to switch the ball … any team with a lot of time and space are able to pick out players and have some quality. So it was about closing them down a little bit better.”

Forward Erik Hurtado

(On the loss…)

“It’s tough, no one likes to lose like that. Thought the boys put in a good fight tonight, it felt good being out there and battling. It’s a hard one right now, but we’re going to move forward, we’re going to have a good week of training and come back next weekend at home.”
