Marseille join Arsenal in the chase for Wilfried Zaha as the Crystal Palace winger’s contract runs down… with the French club also likely to be able to offer him Champions League football next season

Marseille have become the latest club to express an interest in Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha when he becomes a free agent this summer.

The French club could well offer 30-year-old Zaha Champions League football next season after a 3-1 win over Troyes on Sunday lifted them into second place in Ligue 1.

Marseille may be eight points behind leaders Paris Saint-Germain but they currently have the edge on Lens and Monaco with the top three entering Europe’s elite competition.

Given that Zaha has always wanted to test himself in the Champions League, Marseille could be an attractive option.

Premier League leaders Arsenal remain in the frame for Zaha, however, as Reiss Nelson and Folarin Balogun could yet depart.

As Mail Sport revealed last week, Zaha has rebuffed a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad and intends to try and stay at the highest levels in Europe.

Zaha is not considering a move to the Middle East at this stage of his career despite the Saudi league leaders offering a staggering £9million-a-season after tax deal.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s new club Al-Nassr have also shown interest in the Ivory Coast international.

Zaha is currently on the sidelines with a groin injury having pulled up during Palace’s 2-1 win over Leicester City on April 1.

He was ruled out for three to four weeks and has missed the wins over Leeds United and Southampton that got Roy Hodgson’s second spell as manager off to a flyer.

The 2-0 win at St Mary’s on Saturday sees Palace 12th in the Premier League table, nine points above the relegation zone.

Aside from two unsuccessful seasons spent at Manchester United, Zaha has been a Palace player since 2004, progressing through the youth ranks to make his first-team debut in 2010.

He has amassed 455 appearances for the south London club over those two spells, scoring 89 goals.
