Pacific FC Opens Season against Expansion Team Vancouver FC

Langford, BC – Pacific FC kicks off its fifth season in the Canadian Premier League on Saturday, April 15 when the club hosts the first iteration of the League’s newest derby, welcoming expansion side Vancouver FC to Starlight Stadium.


The much-anticipated all-BC match up gives fans on the West Coast a chance to watch Vancouver’s inaugural match in the CPL and cheer on the return of their home club.

“We welcome the community back to watch Pacific FC in British Columbia’s first CPL derby as we meet Vancouver FC,” said Paul Beirne, Managing Director, Pacific FC. “We have fun activities planned for the whole family throughout the stadium.”

Over the offseason, a hydro pole was removed from the north side of the pitch at Starlight Stadium, allowing the club to host new activities on that side of the field, including the Fan Zone and an all-ages beer garden in partnership with Vancouver Island Brewery, where fans can purchase $5 drinks during Happy Hour and DJ Primitive will be spinning tracks.

This match is the second phase of the BEAT VANCOUVER campaign that Pacific FC and the Victoria Royals joined forces on earlier this spring. The joint venture had the organizations support one another to BEAT VANCOUVER in each of their meetings with Vancouver-based opponents.

The Royals front office staff will be at Starlight Stadium supporting the campaign andBEAT VANCOUVER-branded t-shirts, in blue for the Royals and purple for the Tridents, will be sold at the match in for $25 each, a part of a ticket and shirt bundle. Proceeds from each sale going to benefit KidSport Greater Victoria, which supports access to youth sports in the Greater Victoria region.

Food trucks from Kattia’s Kitchen, Greek on the Street, FreshCoast, and Max’s Mini Donuts will be on site. Younger fans can enjoy the Peninsula Co-op Family Zone, which will include a balloon artist, face painter, games and inflatables.

Two local radio station will be on site, and $50 Peninsula Co-op gift card will be available through the PenCo Liquor DJ Booth with DJ Primitive.

Pacific FC will be providing $50 Moxie’s gift card to the game’s Fan of the Match and a $50 Craft gift card for the game’s Save of the Match. Juan de Fuca soccer will sell the 50/50.
