Chelsea plot double Barca swoop as Todd Boehly to ‘seduce’ teen amid €950m price drop

Chelsea plot double Barca swoop as Todd Boehly to 'seduce' teen amid €950m price drop

Chelsea will look to raid Barcelona this summer as Todd Boehly has ‘decided to seduce’ midfielder Gavi, while reigniting interest in one of the teenager’s teammates.

As reported earlier this week, Chelsea had a ‘very satisfactory’ meeting with Gavi’s agent in Madrid three weeks ago, with a further report claiming that Blues owner Todd Boehly would lead a second meeting to convince the Spaniard of his ‘importance’ to Chelsea moving forward.

Gavi’s contract with Barcelona was extended in September, with the Spain international signing a deal until 2026 which included a €1bn release clause, but this wasn’t accepted by La Liga as Barcelona failed to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations.

That convinced top European clubs like Chelsea that an ‘opportunity was open’ according to Mundo Deportivo (via Sport Witness).

And that report claims Chelsea have ‘decided to seduce’ Gavi as they believe his clause has ‘dropped’ to €50m, though it’s not at all clear why they think that.

Sport claim Gavi’s not the only Barcelona player Boehly is keen on, with the Chelsea owner reportedly wanting one of their wingers, because they haven’t got enough of them already, apparently.

Chelsea will ‘return to charge’ for Raphinha having missed out on the Brazilian last year.

The Blues have ‘already expressed an interest’ in signing the former Leeds star, and although Barcelona would rather keep Raphinha despite his ‘irregular’ performances, they may be forced into accepting a bid to balance their books.

Boehly is said to believe Raphinha can be an ‘important piece’ of the Blues squad in the future, and will have to do business with former Barcelona and Chelsea midfielder Deco, who acts as the forward’s agent.

Any deal would likely have to be ‘greater than’ the €58m Barcelona paid Leeds last summer, but that’s unlikely to be an issue for Boehly, who has spent close to £600m on new recruits since taking over at Stamford Bridge.

Raphinha is thought to want to stay at Barcelona, having orignally pushed to move to them over Chelsea, but could be forced out if the Catalans receive a suitable offer.
