£35.2m La Liga star ‘dreams’ of Arsenal over Manchester City

Reported Spurs target Gabri Veiga celebrates his goal

City look set to miss out on a top target who ‘dreams’ of Arsenal while Newcastle prey on relegation-threatened clubs for their top talent.

VEIGA DREAMS OF ARSENAL
Gabri Veiga’s form for Celta Vigo has got the big boys circling, with four of the top ten Premier League teams making contact with the Spanish club.

Speaking to the media earlier this month, Celta de Vigo president Carlos Mouriño said: “Real Madrid has not asked us, we don’t know if they will have called the player.

“Of the top-10 teams in the Premier League, four have asked.

“For us, he is not for sale. We refer to the clause. We have nothing to negotiate with anyone.”

Despite Mourino’s claim that Madrid haven’t made contact, the La Liga giants are thought to be interested, along with Napoli.

Veiga, who has nine goals and four assists operating as an attacking midfielder this season, has a release clause of €40m (£35.2m), which would be a comfortable figure for Arsenal, Manchester City or Newcastle, who are thought to be among the Premier League teams interested.

And it appears the Gunners would outdo their rivals if they pushed for the 20-year-old, with Spanish outlet Faro de Vigo (via Sport Witness) claiming it would be Veiga’s ‘dream’ to move to the Emirates and work under Mikel Arteta.

YOURI BATTLE
Arsenal are said to have ‘officially opened’ talks with Youri Tielemans recently, as they looked to steal a march on their rivals to land the Belgium international at the end of the season.

But Football Insider claim Newcastle aren’t willing to allow the Gunners to pinch Tielemans for free without competition.

The midfielder – who’s been rumoured to want to leave the King Power Stadium for some time – is out of contract in the summer and having rebuffed a number of new contract offers from the Foxes is now sure to leave.

It looked as though Arsenal – who have held an interest in Tielemans for some time – were going to land him without opposition, which would have been remarkable given his age, quality and Premier League experience, but now Newcastle are said to be vying for his signature.

The report states that the Belgian’s contract demands are ‘high,’ but that shouldn’t be a problem for Newcastle or the Gunners with the Premier League rivals expected to have plenty of money to spend this summer.

Liverpool were at one stage also thought to have been keen but ‘pulled out’ of negotiations to focus on other targets.
