Marcus Rashford reportedly turned down an eye-watering £400,000-a-week offer from PSG last summer.

The Manchester United star is currently enjoying the best goalscoring season of his career so far having shown himself to be integral to Erik ten Hag‘s transformation of the club. 

However, things were not as rosy last year as they were this time round which saw PSG try to capitalise on the fact that the England star was out of sorts and entering the final year of his United deal, shortly before a one-year extension was activated.

And Rashford was made to think about his future long and hard last summer when the Ligue 1 giants made him an offer of more than £400,000 per week to join them, a report from The Athletic claims.

The report goes on to claim that United were kept in the loop with any developments from PSG’s talks with Rashford, which were considered above board.

The 25-year-old decided against moving to Ligue 1 and stayed at his boyhood club.

It turned out to be for the best for Rashford, considering he has been firing on all cylinders for club and country, and despite only having 18 months remaining on his current deal, is in talks over a new deal to stay at Old Trafford for the long term.

Had United not activated his one-year extension, Rashford would have been free to talk to clubs from overseas about joining them on a free, but the short-term extension now takes him through to the summer of 2024.
