New Bayern Munich boss Thomas Tuchel has confirmed that he will raid Chelsea for former Wigan Athletic coach Anthony Barry.
The German was sacked by the Blues in September and replaced by Graham Potter with his successor struggling to galvanise a much-changed Chelsea squad.
Chelsea have spent around £600m in the summer transfer window with 17 new players to try and gel into the squad before more potential incomings in the summer.
But Tuchel has landed on his feet with Bayern Munich confirming his arrival earlier this week after sacking Tottenham-linked Julian Nagelsmann.
And Tuchel has revealed that he will be going to Chelsea in an attempt to lure Blues coach Barry to the Allianz Arena.
The new Bayern Munich boss said: “My coaching staff wasn’t prepared either, so a big thank you to their families for their flexibility.
“Arno Michels and Zsolt Low, who have been working with me for over ten years, will be there. We’re hoping to add Anthony Barry, who is currently at Chelsea.”
Tuchel admits he was shocked by the timing of his appointment amid links to Tottenham, with the former Chelsea boss presuming his career would continue abroad.
He added: “The timing was surprising, I didn’t expect it and there was no contact beforehand. I assumed that I would continue my career abroad.”
And the former Borussia Dortmund head coach reckons the job at Bayern Munich will suit him because their modus operandi is to win.
Tuchel continued: “The DNA of FC Bayern is all about winning, also about the way you play football. This squad is one of the most talented and best squads in Europe, said Tuchel. ‘I’m looking forward to working with this squad. You can compete for every title with this squad.
“Winning all titles is still possible. Therefore, it will be all about the details. I have an idea of what to do and I’m really looking forward to it. It’s about playing for all titles.
“The position that Julian created with the team, that we have a chance of winning the title in all three competitions, has to be exploited. Of course there are also risks involved. But we love the pressure and the stress.
“On Tuesday evening I started thinking about the squad. In England and in Paris, they rate Bayern extremely highly. Nobody wants to play against Bayern Munich. The size, the strength of the club is undisputed.”
