Mexican Women’s National Team to Kick off Inaugural MexTour W this April in Houston and Chicago

NEW YORK CITY & MEXICO CITY (Wednesday, March 8, 2023) – In celebration of International Women’s Day, the Federación Mexicana de Fútbol (FMF) and Soccer United Marketing (SUM) announced today the launch of MexTour W, an annual U.S. tour featuring the Mexican Women’s National Team. MexTour W 2023 will consist of two April matches in its inaugural yearin Chicago and Houston.


The Mexican Women’s National Team will face the Chicago Red Stars on Saturday, April 8, at 3 p.m. ET (2 p.m. local) at SeatGeek Stadium in Bridgeview, Illinois. Mexico will then head to Texasfor a match on Tuesday, April 11, at 8 p.m. ET (7 p.m. local) at Shell Energy Stadium in Houston, against an opponent to be named later.

Tickets for the MexTour W matches will go on sale Friday, March 10 at 10 a.m. (local time at each match location) via Tickets.com and SeatGeek.com for the Chicago and Houston matches, respectively.

“MexTour W will contribute to the growth of the Mexican Women’s National Team program by creating more international competitive opportunities in its pathway to future competitions while delivering fans the opportunity to cheer on their country,” said Andrea Rodebaugh, Sporting Director for the Mexican Women’s National Teams.

MexTour W will serve as a platform for talented athletes to inspire and pave the way for future generations of women in the sport. These tour games will showcase the international, competitive level of women’s soccer in this new cycle for the Mexican Women’s National Team while creating a movement for the youth to play, be inspired, and be empowered by the sport.

The Mexican Women’s National Team is currently ranked 35th in the FIFA World Rankings. Spanish Head Coach Pedro Lopez took the reins during Fall 2022, focusing on reaching the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup. The team is captained by Real Madrid defender Kenti Robles, Mexico’s longest-serving player. Standouts on the roster include top LIGA MX Femenil scorers like Tigres forward Stephany Mayor, Club America forward Kiana Palacios, and midfielder Scarlett Camberos. Other top players include Houston Dash forwards María Sánchez and Diana Ordóñez from the National Women’s Soccer League.
