Gary Neville has hit out at Man Utd midfielder Bruno Fernandes for being annoyed at not being substituted during their 7-0 loss to Liverpool.
After trailing 1-0 at the break through a Cody Gakpo opener, the Red Devils were blown away in the second half with Jurgen Klopp’s side hitting six.
Gakpo got another with Mo Salah and Darwin Nunez getting a brace each before Roberto Firmino – who will leave Anfield at the end of the season – bagging the seventh of the afternoon.
Man Utd, who had come into the match on a great run of form, were humiliated and nothing summed up their afternoon more than when Fernandes threw his arms in the air as Anthony Elanga replaced Marcus Rashford on 85 minutes.
Speaking as the substitute was happening, Neville told Sky Sports: “Bruno Fernandes is stood in the centre circle with his arms raised saying ‘why is it me not coming off?’
“Honestly, I have to say some of his behaviour in the second half has been a disgrace.”
Neville added later: “I’ve had enough of him throwing his arms about, not running about.
“That wasn’t a captain’s performance by him.”
Fellow pundit and former Man Utd team-mate Keane said: “Fernandes’ body language today was disgraceful.”
On the Red Devils’ performance, Keane continued: “Players will no doubt feel ashamed. They went missing in the second half.
“But I have to say Liverpool were absolutely amazing. Their energy, decision-making… Liverpool were back to their very, very best.”
Despite their heavy defeat, Fernandes insisted Man Utd were “really good” in the first half: “It’s really frustrating, because it’s a really bad result.
“The first half was really good, we created most of the chances, they didn’t create much. The second half was not our level.
“We know how much better we can be, how much quality we have. We’ve set good standards for ourselves, now we must get back to that for ourselves and our fans.”

“I have some (similar experiences in my career) that are the bad days,” Ten Hag said.
“But also (they) are the days if you do the right things, if you react with the right measures as a manager and as a team you can learn a lot from it, you can strengthen your mentality.”
