Alabama’s Felicia Knox Called Up to U.S. U-23 Women’s National Team


CHICAGO – Alabama’s Felicia Knox is one of 23 players called up to the U.S. U-23 Women’s National Soccer Team, the organization announced Thursday. Knox and the national team are scheduled to compete in the Thorns Preseason Tournament which will feature three matches against National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) teams.

The United States opens the tournament against OL Reign on Sunday, March 12 at 4:30 p.m. CT. The team’s second game will be against the Thorns on March 15 at 9:30 p.m. CT, before concluding the event against Racing Louisville at 7 p.m. on Sunday March 18.

The U.S. U-23 team is comprised of 23 players from 13 colleges with Knox competing as the lone representative from the Southeastern Conference.

“I am super excited to be called up. I feel like this has been something that I have been looking at and trying to reach my whole soccer career. I’m excited to have the opportunity. I hope to represent the university well. I definitely wouldn’t be here without the success from our team this past season and so grateful for that.”

  • Had a breakout season in 2022 earning All-America honors as well as being named the SEC Midfielder of the Year
  • Named to the 2022 Women’s College Cup All-Tournament Team
  • Shattered the UA record and led the NCAA in assists, tallying 20 assists this past season
  • Set the Alabama record for career assists with 25 over three years 
  • Averaged a school-record 0.74 assists per game, second-best average in the NCAA last year
  • Ranks third in program history for single-season points, tallying 34 over the 2022 campaign
  • Finished the season ranked 11th nationally with 34 points after scoring seven goals and recording 20 assists
  • Eight of her 20 assists were off of corner kicks while another three came from free kicks
  • First Team All-Southeast Region honoree
  • Helped lead the Tide to an SEC regular season title, SEC Tournament runner-up finish and the program’s first ever College Cup appearance
