Nicolo Barella in action for Inter Milan.

Jurgen Klopp will be allowed to pick his own boss, with Liverpool also linked with an Inter Milan midfielder as an alternative to Jude Bellingham and Mason Mount…

KLOPP TO CHOOSE SPORTING DIRECTOR AS REDS EYE INTER STAR
Big changes are afoot at Anfield. And Jurgen Klopp will need a hand to rebuild his Liverpool squad.

The Reds have lost a sporting director in each of the last two seasons, with Michael Edwards’ replacement, Julian Ward, yet to be replaced. Football Insider says Klopp is urging FSG to get a shift on, but the current owners are said to be content to leave the choice up to the manager, since it’s likely he’ll be around longer than they will be.

Should a sporting director arrive by the summer, one of his first jobs will be to help remodel Liverpool’s midfield. Fichajes says the Reds are eyeing one of three players: Jude Bellingham – obviously – and Mason Mount are on the list, with the Chelsea star’s contract situation yet to be addressed by Todd Boehly, while Inter Milan’s Nicolo Barella is also a target.

ARSENAL LEAD DUMFRIES CHASE
Barella could follow Inter team-mate Denzel Dumfries to the Premier League, with the Netherlands defender being chased by half of the big six.

Last week it was claimed that Manchester United are making moves to secure Dumfries, for whom Inter are demanding around £44million. Talks between the Red Devils and the player’s representatives are well underway, but Tuttosport suggests they have slipped behind Arsenal in the race for the 26-year-old.

Arsenal may also need a left-back if there is anything in reports of serious interest in Kieran Tierney from Newcastle.

SPURS, CHELSEA WATCHING BRIGHTON STARLET
Evan Ferguson is having a fine season in Brighton’s attack. So of course the big six clubs are starting to circle…

The 18-year-old has scored three goals and offered a couple of assists in seven games for the Seagulls which, according to The Sun, has led Tottenham to ponder whether Ferguson could be the long-term replacement for Harry Kane.

Chelsea are also known to be keen on the Republic of Ireland teenager because of course they are.
