Quakes conclude preseason with 4-1-1 record

INDIO, Calif. – The San Jose Earthquakes fell to the New York Red Bulls FC 2-0 on Saturday morning at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, Calif. as part of the 2023 Coachella Valley Invitational. It marked the team’s final preseason match of 2023.


New York got two goals by forward Tom Barlow to take a 2-0 lead into halftime. San Jose’s best chance in the second half came on a direct free kick by Jamiro Monteiro, which hit the post.

The Quakes will now return to San Jose to prepare for the regular season opener on Feb. 25 in Atlanta. The Earthquakes will play their home opener vs. Vancouver Whitecaps FC on Saturday, March 4. The Quakes will be celebrating the 20th anniversary of the 2003 championship team with a special halftime ceremony and 10,000 retro championship sherseys.
