Man United ‘agree four-year contract with Cardiff City wonderkid Gabriele Biancheri – with the 16-year-old forward confirming he has left the Welsh side after completing a medical’

Cardiff City forward Gabriele Biancheri is on his way to Manchester United after reportedly agreeing a four-year contract.

The teenage wonderkid is said to have confirmed his departure from the Championship outfit after completing a medical.

And Biancheri has put pen to paper on a long-term scholarship contract at Old Trafford, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Several other English clubs are said to have been interested in the 16-year-old forward’s signature, but United have now won the race and Biancheri will join up with the Red Devils youth teams. 

The youngster will sign a professional deal in September when he turns 17. The striker was wanted by Chelsea last summer and has scored 17 goals and five assists in all age-grade football this season.

The Blues have been big on buying young players with a lot of potential. However, Biancheri looks set to sign for United, where he will continue his development and look to break into the senior team in the near future.  

Biancheri, who made his U18s debut for the Bluebirds in an FA Youth Cup fixture earlier this campaign, has already climbed through the youth ranks at Cardiff,  training as a part of their U21 squad on occasions as well.

After being called up to Cardiff’s U21 squad in December, he made an instant impact – coming on against Wolves and scoring the equaliser.

Although he is eligible to play for England and Italy, the youth star represents Wales at youth level, chalking up three international caps for the U17s so far.

Due to Brexit rules, United can only sign players aged 18 or under with UK citizenship – and have thus snapped up the Welsh youngster.
