‘Worried’ Gallas dreading ‘negative spiral’ that could see Arsenal finish below Man Utd

Ex-Arsenal defender William Gallas looks across the pitch

William Gallas is “worried” for Arsenal on Wednesday night with the former defender predicting “massive” psychological effects if they lose to Manchester City.

The Premier League leaders host the second-placed Citizens on Wednesday evening with Pep Guardiola’s side having the opportunity to leapfrog Mikel Arteta’s men with a win.

Arsenal currently have a three point lead over Man City with a game in hand –  but the title is in the Citizens’ hands too as they have to play the Gunners twice before the end of the season.

“If Arsenal lose on Wednesday it will be really, really hard for them to get in front of City for the rest of the season.

“The psychological effects of losing this game are massive. The Arsenal players will be down if they lose against City.”

Gallas added: “Well the problem is, that if Arsenal lose, they have another team in Manchester United that is building momentum behind them. The Arsenal boys don’t have the experience of being in this position.

“If they lose, there is a danger that Arsenal could fall into a negative spiral. That is why on Wednesday, a victory would be magnificent, but at least come away from the game with a draw. Do not lose!”

Defending champions Man City have not quite lived up to their high standards this season and Gallas reckons they have lost some of their fear factor.

Gallas continued: “I think all of the teams that play City know how to play against them; how to disrupt them, which is why City haven’t been so dominant this season.

“All the clubs in the Premier League will spend hours pouring over video analysis of City and will have…
