Aguero details why Chelsea new boy who ‘doesn’t feel pressure’ will be a hit for years

Sergio Aguero believes record Chelsea signing Enzo Fernandez ‘does not feel pressure’ and will have a ‘very important progression in the Premier League’.

Chelsea’s January transfer window was dominated by Fernandez. That’s saying something, given he was one of eight people who walked through the door at Stamford Bridge.

The signing of the midfielder was the marquee one, though. Indeed, he’s a World Cup winner and the Blues ended up paying a British record transfer fee of £107million to land him.

Former Premier League star Aguero feels his compatriot as qualities that have stood him in good stead in his career and will continue to do so.

“Enzo has shown time and time again, both in his first club River Plate and in the Argentina national team and Benfica, that he does not feel pressure and assumes his responsibility on the pitch naturally,” he said, quoted by Metro.

What’s more, Aguero detailed why he’ll have a good impact for years to come at Chelsea.

“We saw it in his Chelsea debut. He made the team play and almost reached the goal. And it was his first game,” he added.

“In the second he put in a masterful assist for Joao Felix’s goal. He will surely have a very important progression in the Premier League.”

Indeed, despite him being the subject of a British record transfer fee and a World Cup winner, the signing of Fernandez could be seen as a risk by Chelsea.

Sure, he showed promise for Benfica and was a success for Argentina in the World Cup. However, he’s just 22 years of age and has played just over 100 senior games.

There’s no guarantee a young player with such limited experience would be able to carry his form with him after such a big move, with so many eyes on him.

However, that he’s already started to have an impact at Stamford Bridge will ease the minds of those at the club. What’s more, a reference from one of the Premier League’s best ever overseas talents should do the same.

Chelsea will clearly be hoping Fernandez is a hit for years to come, as Aguero feels he will be. The midfielder will surely have a big say in the successes of the club in the next few seasons.
