Wave Blasted by Baltimore Saturday Night.

Wave Struck by Comets Saturday Night in Kansas City.

February 11, 2023 – Major Arena Soccer League (MASL)Milwaukee Wave News Release

After a dominant shutout victory Friday night in St. Louis, the 7-time champion Milwaukee Wave headed east to take on their longtime rivals, the Baltimore Blast, and ended up getting blown out of SECU Arena in front of a sellout crowd Saturday night .

Final Score: Milwaukee Wave 3, Baltimore Blast 11.

“The Blast put a clinic on for us and it definitely was; helpful, not helpful, I’m not sure yet,” questioned Milwaukee Wave Head Coach Giuliano Oliviero after the game.

“It kind of gives you an inside look at the wonderful world of indoor soccer where you can be on such a high and less than 24 hours later you get your butt whooped. We’ll see how we bounce back from this.”

Both teams came out of the games swinging, accumulating 7 goals in the first quarter; 3 from Milwaukee (Luan Oliveira, Ian Bennett and Mario Alvarez) and 4 from Baltimore. After that, it was all Baltimore the rest of the night, leaving the Wave with 10 unanswered goals.

“You could see we’ve got a couple guys coming off of injury that aren’t at their full fitness, not to make excuses,” said Oliviero. “It’s never easy to win on the road but Baltimore was by far the better team.”

Milwaukee will return home to enjoy, ‘big game’ festivities with family and friends Sunday and then it’s back to work Monday to get ready for the St. Louis Ambush, Friday night, February 17th, 6:35pm at UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena.

“Luckily we are still in first place in MASL east,” added Oliviero. “But we still have some room to grow and get better as a team and that’s what we’re going to do.”
