‘He didn’t seem happy’ – Pundit hints at De Bruyne unrest as Man City problems pile up

Tottenham Hotspur v Manchester City - Premier League - Tottenham Hotspur Stadium Machester City's Kevin De Bruyne during the Premier League match against Tottenham Hotspur.

Gabriel Agbonlahor has suggested that Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne has looked unhappy of late as their struggles continue.

Pep Guardiola’s side haven’t quite looked like their usual selves recently as they failed to close the gap on Arsenal over the weekend as they lost against Tottenham.

Guardiola often likes to rotate his side, although leaving De Bruyne on the bench at the weekend was bound to raise some eyebrows.

Agbonlahor has hinted at some unrest behind the scenes as Man City have struggled to recapture their previous consistency.

“Everyone keeps saying, ‘Manchester City are going to hit a run of form’, what if they don’t?” The pundit told talkSPORT.

“I feel like the Premier League now, there are no easy games, you look at Arsenal going to Everton, they probably thought, ‘Oh new manager, but we’ve got enough, [Bukayo] Saka, [Gabriel] Martinelli, we’ll get a result’, but no they don’t.

De Bruyne has produced 11 assists in the league so far which is more than any other player.

The Belgian playmaker was introduced in the second half against Spurs, but he ultimately struggled to make an impact during his cameo.

Guardiola defended his team following the loss against Spurs which leaves them five points behind Arsenal in the league.

The manager explained: “Normally when we win it is a real team and when we lose it is not. I have a lot of gratitude for these players.

“I always try to do my best. I said many times, I knew that we were not the same after winning a lot – me the first when I talk about that – but the way we try to go and fight for every ball until the end, we try until the end. I always try to do the next step.

“It doesn’t matter what happened in the past. We have to try to do it now, we are sad. Tomorrow we will watch the game, reflect and then think about Aston Villa – that will be tough- with our…
