Swindon Town appoint ex-Chelsea and Derby assistant Jody Morris as their new boss on a two-and-a-half year contract – as Frank Lampard’s old No 2 lands his first management gig

Jody Morris has been unveiled as the new manager of Swindon Town as he takes up his first permanent job in management.
Morris, who was assistant manager to Frank Lampard at both Chelsea and Derby County, has agreed a two-and-a-half year deal with the Robins.
The 44-year-old replaces Scott Lindsey who left the League Two club earlier this month to become Crawley Town manager.

The former Chelsea, Leeds and Millwall midfielder retired back in 2013 before joining the Blues as an academy coach.
Morris then teamed up with Lampard at Derby in 2018, guiding The Rams to the Championship play-off final as his assistant after a sixth place finish.
He followed Lampard back to Chelsea in July 2019, where the pair helped the club qualify for the Champions League – despite being under a transfer embargo.

Morris then left Stamford Bridge in 2021 and has been linked with numerous jobs since his departure, including Championship side Swansea City.
Morris told the Swindon Town website: ‘I’m incredibly excited to be joining Swindon Town as First-Team Head Coach.
