1 – MARTINEZ IS THE HEIR TO AGUERO

Lautaro Martinez is the true heir to Sergio Aguero. This comes as great news for Argentine football, which has finally found a replacement for ‘Kun’ Aguero, who retired in 2022.

Without Martinez’s brace against Cremonese, Inter could have potentially bid their Scudetto hopes farewell, and a loss would have added insult to injury amid the growing rift in the dressing room.

Milan Skriniar and Stefan De Vrij are set to leave, Romelu Lukaku is a shadow of his former self and Denzel Dumfries is the only player in the side that can feasibly attract a big-money move.

With Inter lacking a charismatic leader, Martinez alone can can get the club into Europe next season.

For a player whose place in the national team has been usurped by youngster Julian Alvarez, 12 goals and three assists in 20 games is an exceptional return. His return to Italy revitalised him, facilitating his rise as Inter’s top scorer in the league this season.

The Argentine ‘Toro’ is an indomitable fighter who led Inter’s comeback, and subjected Cremonese to yet another defeat in the process.

Napoli are out of reach now, and Inter can only hope to grab hold of the coat-tails of Victor Osimhen and Co in the hope of making second or third place.

2 – LOOKMAN IS RESCUING ATALANTA’S SEASON

In the year Duvan Zapata and Luis Muriel have begun to give up the ghost, and Rasmus Hojlund is still finding his feet, the emergence of Ademola Lookman looks to have saved Atalanta’s season.

The former Everton and RB Leipzig forward is responsible for 70 per cent of the Dea’s points this season, with his 12 league goals.

Thanks to the Nigerian forward, Atalanta are able to compete with the league’s top sides for the all-important Champions League places.

Although often played out on the wing, Lookman’s numbers read more like those of a traditional No 10, with an additional three assists taking his overall tally to 15 goal…
