Chattanooga Red Wolves Sign Homegrown Talent Yahir Paez to Professional Contract

The Chattanooga Red Wolves are pleased to announce the signing of forward Mayele Malango for the 2023 USL League One season. Transaction pending league and federation approval.

Malango, who started his professional career with the New England Revolution II, was a standout at Lowell High School in his hometown of Lowell, Massachusetts. Malango played collegiate soccer at Salem State, where he helped the team win the MASCAC title and won Player of the year honors for the league as a Freshman. He transferred to the D-1 level and played a full season for UMASS-Lowell before turning professional.


Malango has previously played in USL League, having made 14 appearances for New England Revolution II in the 2020 USL League One season. Malango also trained with the Revolution first team for a brief spell during the 2019 season. Malango’s career has spanned over 4,000 minutes, making 69 appearances, scoring 18 goals, and contributing 5 assists.

Malango hopes to make a big impact with the club saying, “I came to Chattanooga to be a champion. Coach Ziggy talked to me about the mindset of the organization going into the 2023 season, and the club’s goal is to win a championship in the 2023 season.”

He went on to say, “I want to thank God for this great opportunity to be a part of this great club, and I’m excited to go through this journey together with the club as one big family to bring a championship to Chattanooga.”

Malango hinted at what’s to come this season for himself saying, “I cannot wait to meet the fans and share this amazing season together, but they will have to be ready for my backflips and goal celebrations.”
