Ranking every Tottenham manager of the Levy era by their PL record

Over 20 years have passed since Daniel Levy succeeded Sir Alan Sugar as the chairman of Tottenham. In that time, the club have appointed 11 full-time managers – and to say it’s a mixed bag in terms of success would be an understatement.

In 2021, following Ryan Mason’s stint as caretaker, Levy published an open letter to Tottenham’s supporters: “We shall focus on the recruitment of a new Head Coach.

“We are acutely aware of the need to select someone whose values reflect those of our great Club and return to playing football with the style for which we are known – free-flowing, attacking and entertaining – whilst continuing to embrace our desire to see young players flourish from our Academy alongside experienced talent.”

It’s certainly up for debate as to which managers have and haven’t fulfilled that remit over the past two decades.

Nuno Espirito Santo ended up getting the role but lasted only a few months, the shortest stint of any Spurs in the Premier League era.

Antonio Conte succeeded Nuno and did a fine job to get the club into the top four at Arsenal’s expense, but he’s struggled to build on that in his first full season at the helm. The Italian’s contract runs out at the end of the 2022-23 season and it appears increasingly unlikely that he’ll remain in the post beyond the summer.

But how does Conte compare to the coaches that preceded him? We’ve taken a look at the Premier League record of every permanent Spurs manager of the Levy era and ranked them in terms of their points-per-game average.

You’ll be amazed who comes out on top of this list.
