Man Utd ‘push’ to hijack £8.8m Arsenal deal for La Liga teenage ‘sensation’; ‘want’ Chelsea striker target

Man Utd target Fresneda

Man Utd are reportedly ‘pushing’ to beat Arsenal and Newcastle to the signing of 18-year-old Real Valladolid right-back Ivan Fresneda this month.

Fresneda can be added to the list of right-backs Man Utd have been linked with since Erik ten Hag took over in the summer.

Talk of the Red Devils bringing in a new right-back has been ongoing since Ten Hag made it clear in the summer that he is not a huge admirer of Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Diogo Dalot has instead been preferred by the head coach and the Portugal international has shone for Man Utd this season.

Wan-Bissaka has been left on the sidelines for much of this season, but with Dalot being out of action since the World Cup, the ex-Crystal Palace man has played for United in recent weeks.

The defender has performed well for United and his recent form has fuelled talk that he could be afforded a fresh start under Ten Hag in the final few months of this season.

Last week, it was reported that Wan-Bissaka is ‘now expected to stay at United this month’ as he is now viewed as being a ‘genuine alternative’ to Dalot.

It was suggested at the time that Wan-Bissaka’s situation may change again if he falls back down the pecking order when Dalot is back.

As good as Wan-Bissaka has been in recent weeks, you would imagine that Ten Hag will revert to using Dalot when his preferred right-back is back at his best.

United are seemingly keeping their options open as they are now being linked with Fresneda.

Football Insider are reporting that Man Utd have ‘joined’ rivals Arsenal and Newcastle ‘in the chase’ to sign the Real Valladolid ‘sensation’.

The Spanish side are said to be ‘resigned to losing their prized asset’ as his £8.8m release clause ‘could be triggered this month’.

Man Utd are ‘pushing’ to sign him as Wan-Bissaka’s future at the club ‘remains uncertain’.

The Spain U19 international has enjoyed a breakthrough season in 2022/23 as he has played nine times in La Liga.

France and Borussia Monchengladbach striker Marcus Thuram is another player who is coming of age this season.

The 25-year-old has been involved in 13 goals in 15 Bundesliga outings this term and he also got on the scoresheet at the World Cup.

Thuram is out of contract in the summer and Gladbach are said to be willing to let him go this month so they do not lose him on a free transfer in a couple of months.

Chelsea are being linked with the attacker and Man Utd are also keen, according to Rudy Galetti.
