Midfielder Esai Romero Signs with the Dallas Sidekicks for 2022-23 Season

Allen, Texas – The Dallas Sidekicks have announced the signing of Esai Romero. This is Romero’s first season with the Sidekicks and in the MASL. He joins his older brother, Oscar Romero, on the Sidekicks. Per team and league guidelines, the terms of the agreement were not disclosed.


Romero was born on June 14, 2001, and grew up in Fort Worth, Texas. He graduated high school in 2020 from Everman High School in Everman, Texas.

As a freshman, Romero earned Offensive Newcomer of the Year honors. Romero also earned Co-Midfielder of the Year in 2019 and Co-District MVP in 2020.

Growing up, Romero also played in the FC Dallas Academy. In 2022, Romero played collegiate soccer at Hill College. He received an Honorable Mention All-Conference/Region.

Romero made his rookie debut with the Sidekicks on January 8th against the San Diego Sockers. During that game, brothers Esai Romero and Oscar Romero were able to join the other Sidekicks Brother duo, Estevan and Christian Vazquez.

When asked about what it means to sign with the Sidekicks, Esai Romero said, “It means a lot to me since it is my first professional contract and because I get to play with my big brother.”

The Sidekicks are back on the road on Friday, January 13 as they take on the Chihuahua Savage in Chihuahua at 8 PM CST. The game will be streamed live on Twitch (twitch.tv/masl_soccer2)
