Tottenham and Arsenal set to battle for wantaway Juventus midfielder

Rabiot on England

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly leading the race to sign Juventus player Adrien Rabiot, but they are closely followed by Arsenal, who are also keen on the midfielder.

The 27-year-old has long been linked to a move to the Premier League and after impressing at the World Cup for France, this has only added to the speculation.

Rabiot has been at the Old Lady for a number of years, but with the Italian giants currently in financial disarray, they may end up losing their player.

That is according to Tuttomercatoweb, who claim that the battle between Spurs and Arsenal for the Frenchman is hotting up ahead of the upcoming window.

Spurs look to be the current favourites, with Fabio Paratici ‘moving decisively’ as he once again seeks a deal with his former club.

The Spurs director of football signed Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski from Juve last January, so he may utilise his links again this winter to get Rabiot.

Arsenal, on the other hand, could do with some cover in midfield as their main man Thomas Partey has had a few injury issues already this season.

Rabiot also has the ability to play as a defensive, central or attacking midfielder, as well as a left winger on occasion, so he could be an important utility man for the Gunners as Mikel Arteta looks to try and push for a league title.

As mentioned, Juventus are in one unholy mess once again after their whole board resigned following allegations of gross financial misconduct.

Along with an early exit from the Champions League and the fallout of the European Super League debacle… Juventus are a strong contender for the most disastrous 2022 in Europe.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, this has made negotiations over a new contract for Rabiot difficult, but the midfielder reportedly wanted to leave the Allianz Arena regardless.

However, Rabiot allegedly wants to wait until the end of the season to decide his future, as he wants to move on as a free agent.

But, any January offer would have to be seriously considered by Juventus, given this is most likely their last chance to cash in on Rabiot.

The Frenchman had a good World Cup campaign in Qatar and has been in fine form for his club this season, scoring five goals along with making two assists in 16 appearances in the Serie A.

Although, while he has looked decent this season, any deal for Rabiot could be a risk for Spurs and Arsenal.

Rabiot was always considered to be a potential future star when at PSG as a youngster, but he has never really lived up…
