Evra tells Man Utd to make three signings after doubts about player who has ‘disappeared’

Former Man Utd defender Patrice Evra looks into the cameras

Former defender Patrice Evra has told Man Utd boss Erik ten Hag he needs to sign three players in the January transfer window.

The Red Devils are hoping to bring in some players over the winter with Ten Hag revealing that he thinks the club needs to sign a striker.

On whether Man Utd need to sign a striker, Ten Hag told Sky Sports: “There are two things. First, goals can also come out of our own club: see Garnacho, see Elanga, see Pellistri, who made a good impression in the World Cup and in the game against Everton last week in training. That is first.

“We are aware we lost a striker, so I think we have to get a striker in but it has to be the right one. The right one will bring quality to the team and not just an add to the squad because that gives you only problems.

“You know the criteria is high at Manchester United.”

However, a report today claimed that the Man Utd board will only allow Ten Hag to make loan signings in January with the Glazers looking to sell the club.

Former Man Utd defender Evra thinks they need three players to help them have a successful season under the Dutchman.

“You always expect to strengthen, but I don’t want to go into the transfer window panicking and buying players because the fans and media are pushing for it,” Evra told Betfair.

“We need to add something to the squad so we can perform much better.

“We’re probably going to need a striker, I definitely think we need a defender.

“Diogo Dalot is doing a job, Aaron Wan-Bissaka has just disappeared, so I don’t know if we need another right-back. We have competition between Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia.

“I definitely think we need a centre-back, a striker and a midfielder. That kind of Casemiro player, we still need experience.

“I’m sure Ten Hag is working with the club and they will try to get something sorted.”

Wan-Bissaka, who played in United’s 2-0 victory over Burnley in the Carabao Cup last week, has only appeared for four minutes in the Premier League this season with Donny van de Beek potentially looking for more game time too.

Evra added: “This transfer window for United also depends on which players are going to leave.

“I think there are players that are not happy about not playing and they will try to leave.”
