SEATTLE – On Thursday, Washington head women’s soccer coach announced the addition of UMass Lowell transfer Ioanna Papatheodorou, who will join the Huskies with two remaining years of eligibility.

The Greece international brings a hefty goal scoring record, having racked up 20 goals in two seasons for the River Hawks. In both of her first two collegiate seasons, Papatheodorou was named to the All-America East First Team.

This past season, Papatheodorou helped lead UMass Lowell to a 7-7-4 record, ranking second in the America East with 10 goals, also adding four assists for 24 total points.

The sophomore’s breakout performance came with a hat trick against Stonehill, also chipping in an assist in the 5-0 victory. Following the season, Papatheodorou received United Soccer Coaches Second Team All-Region honors.

Papatheodorou burst onto the scene during her true freshman campaign, leading the America East with 10 goals. The rookie scored six game-winning goals on the season, converting both of her spot kicks from the penalty spot. For her efforts, Papatheodorou was named the America East Striker and Rookie of the Year laurels, as well as first team all-conference and all-region honors.

A native of Nea Erithraia, Greece, Papatheodorou played at the club level for Atromitos FC and was called up to the Greece National Team in 2019.
