Toronto FC Sign Canadian International Jonathan Osorio to a New Contract

Toronto FC announced today that the club has re-signed Canadian international midfielder Jonathan Osorio to a three-year contract with a 2026 option using Targeted Allocation Money (TAM).

“Jonathan represents the club and the city, and we are proud to have one of the top Canadian players on our side,” said Toronto FC President Bill Manning. “He is a true professional and a real competitor who wants to strive every year for trophies. His passion and love for Toronto FC represent what we are as a club, and we know he will contribute to further success.”


Osorio, 30, recently completed his 10th season with Toronto FC and is the club’s all-time leader in matches played with 318. The Toronto native made his 300th appearance for Toronto FC (all competitions) when he started against New York City FC on April 23, 2022, becoming the first player in club history to reach 300 matches. Since his debut with the team on March 9, 2013, Osorio has registered 58 goals in all competitions, ranking third in the club’s all-time top scorers behind Sebastian Giovinco (83) and Jozy Altidore (79).

Today, my dream is to make history with Toronto FC and take the club back to where it belongs,” said Toronto FC midfielder Jonathan Osorio. “This club and city mean everything to me. I am excited to continue to play in the biggest games at BMO Field in front of our fans and compete to be successful and win trophies every year.”

In 2018, Osorio experienced the best year of his career, scoring a career-high nine goals in 23 MLS matches and 16 goals in 35 matches across all competitions. During Toronto FC’s run to the 2018 Concacaf Champions League finals, he earned the Golden Boot award and was named to the tournament’s Best XI after scoring four goals in eight matches. The same year, Osorio was named tournament MVP earning the George Gross Memorial Trophy as Toronto FC won the 2018 Canadian Championship.

In 10 seasons with Toronto FC, Osorio has lifted nine trophies including one MLS Cup (2017), three Eastern Conference Championships (2016, 2017, 2019), one MLS Supporters’ Shield (2017) and four Canadian Championships (2016, 2017, 2018, 2020). Osorio was a key member in the most successful season in MLS history, when the Reds captured the Canadian Championship, the MLS Supporters’ Shield and MLS Cup in 2017.
