COLUMBUS, Ohio – The United Soccer Coaches have recognized both midfielder Laurence Wootton and goalkeeper Keagan McLaughlin on its 2022 All-North Region Teams, the organization announced Tuesday.

Wootton was named to the first team while McLaughlin made the second team.

Wootton, a junior from Stoke-on-Trent, England, was named the Big Ten Midfielder-of-the-Year while McLaughlin, from nearby Zanesville, Ohio, was named the league’s Goalkeeper-of-the-Year in 2022.

Wootton tied for the team lead with five goals to go with a pair of assists. He led the team in shots on goal with 22. McLaughlin recorded six shutouts in 2022 and led the Big Ten in goals-against-average, save percentage and shutouts.

The pair was instrumental in Ohio State’s second-place finish in the Big Ten Conference regular-season standings and second-round appearance in the 2022 NCAA Tournament.
