Vanderbilt Soccer | Three Dores Named All-Region

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Three Commodores were named United Soccer Coaches All-Southeast Region on Tuesday with senior Maya Antoine and fifth-year senior Raegan Kelley receiving first-team recognition and fifth-year senior Ella Shamburger being selected to the third team.

Antoine and Kelley each garnered third team honors a season ago but their performances in 2022 earned them spots on this year’s first team.

Shamburger, who was all-region in 2018 and 2019, became the sixth Commodore in program history to earn all-region honors three times in her career and the first since Molly Kinsella (2008, 2009, 2010).

“I’m thrilled for the three young women for the recognition they’ve deservedly received. It’s a fair reflection of our team’s success and they would be the first to admit they play on a team full of supportive teammates who have helped them get where they are,” head coach Darren Ambrose said.

“They’ve been a mainstay in this program’s success the last few years, not only on the field but in how they model the values and standards of our program for the younger players that have come in under their guidance and leadership.”

Antoine and Shamburger were staples of Vanderbilt’s stingy defense all season long and started all 21 games on the back line for the Commodores. Their leadership on defense helped Vandy to nine shutouts including a 1-0 clean sheet over fifth-seeded Clemson in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

Kelley had a career season, leading the Dores in goals (8), assists (10) and points (26). She ranked third in the SEC and 14th nationally in assists and seventh in the SEC in points.

Vanderbilt placed multiple players on the all-region list for the fifth consecutive season and earned three selections for the fourth season in a row.
