DURHAM – A Scotty Taylor goal in the 42nd minute propelled seventh-seeded Duke past FIU in a third-round match of the NCAA Tournament on Sunday afternoon. The 1-0 victory moved the Blue Devils into the national quarterfinals for the first time since 2006.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Antino Lopez opened the offensive attack, taking the first shot of the afternoon just under three minutes into the match.
- Both teams demonstrated their physicality in the first half, with a total of 18 fouls being whistled in the opening 45 minutes of play.
- The lone goal of the match was scored in the 42nd minute by Scotty Taylor, a heel flick off of a corner to the back post.
