No. 2 Seed Washington Hosts Creighton In NCAA Second Round

SEATTLE – The No. 2 seed Washington Huskies will begin postseason play when they host Creighton on Sunday at Husky Soccer Stadium. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. and airing on ESPN+.

2022 PAC-12 CHAMPS!

The Huskies clinched their fourth-ever Pac-12 title following a 3-2 victory over UCLA at Husky Soccer Stadium to earn the conference automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. Washington also won the title in 2000, 2013 and 2019. The championship was the first time that Washington clinched it on their home pitch.

 

ALL-CONFERENCE HONORS

Ten Huskies received all-conference honors when the Pac-12 Conference announced them earlier this week.

 

Sophomore Ilijah Paul was named Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Year after leading the conference with 11 goals during the regular season. He also ranks 12^th nationally in total goals.

 

Head coach Jamie Clark was tabbed Coach of the Year for the fourth time in his Washington tenure after leading the program to its fourth Pac-12 Championship and a 15-3 overall record. Clark also earned the honor in 2013, 2019 and 2020.

 

Five Huskies saw First Team All-Conference nods in Paul, Kalani Kossa-Rienzi, Lucas Meek, Nick Scardina and Christian Soto. Nate Jones and Gio Miglietti earned Second Team honors while Chris Meyers and Imanol Rosales were tabbed Honorable Mention.

 

HUSKIES IN THE NATIONAL RANKINGS

Chris Meyers and Imanol Rosales are eighth national with 10 assists on the season, which also leads the Pac-12. Lucas Meek also ranks in the Top 25 with eight.

 

Ilijah Paul is 12^th in the nation with 11 goals on the year, while sixth-year senior Lucas Meek is 21^st with 10. Meek is 10^th nationally with 28 points and Paul is 19^th with 25 points.

 

Sam Fowler is 10^th in the nation with a 0.624 goals against average.

 

HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE

Since 1997, the Huskies have posted a 178-61-19 overall record at Husky Soccer Stadium, winning at least eight matches in 13 seasons including a 10-1-2 mark in 2013. Earlier this season the Huskies set a new program record for single-game attendance when 3,876 people came to see Washington take on Seattle U.
