Portland Timbers left-back Claudio Bravo signs new contract

The Portland Timbers have signed defender Claudio Bravo to a new contract extension.

Bravo’s new deal will keep him at Providence Park through the 2026 MLS season, with the Timbers holding an option to extend through 2027.

“Claudio has become an essential player for the team during his time with the Timbers,” Portland technical director Ned Grabavoy said in a club press release. “We’re glad he will be in Portland for years to come and see him continuing to be an influential contributor on the field.”

Bravo arrived at the Timbers in 2021 from Club Atletico Banfield in his native Argentina. Since then, the 25-year-old has appeared 57 times across all competitions, providing four assists and consistently appearing among the top tacklers in Major League Soccer.

At international level, Bravo was capped 12 times for Argentina’s U-23 side between 2020 and 2021.

“Claudio has been an important component of our defense for the past few years. He has shown great skills and growth in many areas to make us a more competitive team,” said Timbers head coach Giovanni Savarese. “We’re looking forward to helping him reach his full potential.”
