The Carabao Cup will return to our screens almost immediately after the conclusion of the 2022 World Cup.

Liverpool are the current holders of the trophy, though serial winners Manchester City and Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United also have dreams of Carabao grandeur this season.

A number of Premier League sides have already been dumped out of the competition as the remaining teams aim to reach the final at Wembley in February.

Here’s what you need to know about the fourth round schedule.

The draw for the fourth round of the 2022/23 Carabao Cup took place on 10 November following Manchester United’s 4-2 victory over Aston Villa. The round is due to kick off on Tuesday 20 December, where six games will take place.

There are solitary offerings on Wednesday and Thursday with Manchester United vs Burnley and Manchester City vs Liverpool respectively.

The biggest clash of the round will deliver another instalment in the new age rivalry between Manchester City and Liverpool. The Reds are the reigning Carabao Cup champions, though City have dominated the competition in recent years.

Those two facing off and the exits of Tottenham, Arsenal and Chelsea makes the route to the final easier for Manchester United, who take on fellow Lancastrians Burnley.

Wolves, Southampton, Nottingham Forest, Newcastle, Bournemouth, Leicester and Brighton are the other remaining Premier League teams in the competition.
