  • The Foxes only spent £15million in the summer despite selling Wesley Fofana
  • The promising defender was sold to Chelsea in a transfer worth a huge £70m

Peter Crouch has shared his concerns over Leicester City‘s financial position after having a quiet transfer window and feels ‘confidence is low’ at the King Power following a difficult campaign.

The Foxes lost multiple players in the summer as long-standing goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel left the club to join Ligue 1 side Nice and the club also sold star defender Wesley Fofana to Chelsea for £70million.

Despite important players leaving the club, there was an obvious lack of quality replacements being brought in as Alex Smithies and centre-back Wout Faes were the only two new players brought into the squad.

Faes cost the Foxes £15m, meaning there should be plenty of change left over from the sale of Fofana. Overall the summer spending by the club was the lowest for a few years.

Crouch has picked up on the fact that the club did not strengthen the team a lot and believes that there may be some problems going on at the club, but he insisted that the club has more than enough quality to get off the bottom of the table.

Ahead of the Foxes’ fixture against Crystal Palace, he told BT Sports: ‘You look at their squad and they’ve got more than enough and that they shouldn’t be in the position they’re in.

‘There must be issues around the club, financially, they sold Fofana and got a lot of money, I think Brendan Rodgers has been frustrated that he has not been able to spend and strengthen the side.
