Cody Gakpo is ‘no longer interested in a move to Leeds‘ despite nearly joining the club on transfer deadline day, as his sparkling form has led to interest from bigger clubs.

The 23-year-old Dutchman has scored an impressive 13 goals in 16 games this season, including nine in as many games in the Eredivisie.

He has also scored twice for Louis van Gaal‘s Holland this year and is expected to play a part in the World Cup next month.

According to reports in the Athletic, Leeds have been made aware that Gakpo is no longer interested in joining, despite negotiations continuing beyond the end of the transfer window.

They also report the winger is hoping to use the World Cup to put himself in the shop window, with a view to leaving PSV in January.

Arsenal, Manchester United and Real Madrid have all expressed interest in Gakpo at various points.

The news will come as a blow to Leeds, who are winless in their last five league games after a promising start to the season.

They are next in action on Sunday in what should be a tough test against Premier League leaders Arsenal.

The season may start to look a lot longer without the prospect of an exciting goal scorer arriving in January, especially with Patrick Bamford yet to get off the mark this season.
