Petit ’embarrassed to watch’ Liverpool trio this season, thinks ‘something has been broken’

Liverpool trio slammed

Emmanuel Petit has suggested that he has been “embarrassed to watch” three Liverpool players this season as they are making “so many mistakes”.

Liverpool have been a shadow of their usual selves at the start of this season and they look a totally different side to the one that challenged for an unprecedented Quadruple last term.

The Reds returned to winning ways in midweek as they beat Rangers 2-0 at Anfield in the Champions League group stages.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are back in league action on Sunday as they face league leaders Arsenal.

“They are not the same players they used to be. They don’t have the same concentration, the anger to beat the other team, to hurt them, to put pressure on them.

“They don’t run together anymore. They used to run together, like a unit, and the opponent would be scared of them.”

Petit went onto slam Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez, as he has “felt embarrassed watching” them this season:

“Sometimes during this season I have felt embarrassed to watch Alexander-Arnold, Van Dijk and Gomez when he was playing. So many mistakes.

“[Gabriel] Martinelli is very confident, and every time he runs with the ball, he is so quick, so fast, and that’s exactly what Trent doesn’t like. To…
