Men's Soccer Ranked No. 2 in Latest Top-25

DURHAM – Following a week of action that included a 3-2 win over then-No. 1 Wake Forest, the Duke men’s soccer team has moved to No. 2 in the country in the latest United Soccer Coaches poll released on Tuesday. The Blue Devils (7-0-2) were last ranked second in the coaches poll on Sept. 10, 2019.

Duke played to a 1-1 draw against Yale last Tuesday night, Sept. 27, in advance of a highly-anticipated matchup against Wake Forest on Oct. 1. In the weekend’s only fixture to feature two top-5 teams, the Blue Devils were led offensively by Shakur Mohammed, Jai Bean and Axel Gudbjornsson and secured the victory behind a strong defensive effort from the backline and graduate student goalkeeper Eliot Hamill.

Gudbjornsson earned recognition for his efforts against the Demon Deacons, being named to TopDrawerSoccer’s National Team of the Week.

No. 2 Duke returns to action Tuesday night when they take on Howard at Koskinen Stadium. First touch is scheduled for 7 p.m., with streaming available on ACC Network Extra.
