Former England goalkeeper David Seaman has no doubts in his mind that Jordan Pickford will be England’s number one in Qatar this year.
The Everton goalkeeper was left out of England’s latest squad due to injury, but he is expected to be back before the World Cup.
Pickford has cemented himself as England’s first-choice goalkeeper after two impressive tournaments.

The likes of Nick Pope, Aaron Ramsdale and Dean Henderson were all included in the latest squad, but Seaman believes Gareth Southgate will already be set on Pickford.
Speaking to talkSPORT, Seaman explained: “England’s number one is definitely Jordan Pickford, there’s no doubt about that.
“He’s done brilliantly for England you can’t question that.
“People question him sometimes at Everton, but even at the end of last season, he showed why he’s England’s number one.
“He made some big saves at crucial times when the pressure was on.”
Pickford was pivotal in Everton’s survival bid last season and he has been just as impressive during this season.
The Everton goalkeeper has a save percentage of 83.9%, which is the highest of any English goalkeeper.
Newcastle’s Pope ranks second amongst the English keepers for save percentage with 81.6% and Ramsdale third with 65%.
Seaman believes each goalkeeper will get their chance during England’s next two fixtures.
He added: “Going into these two games I think Nick (Pope) and Aaron (Ramsdale) will get a game each.
“For me, Aaron’s the number two.
“It’s different with Aaron, because Arsenal are top of the league, not getting as much to do but that’s much more like playing an international game where you don’t get a lot to do and all of a sudden you’re called upon to be at your best.
“It’s a good learning curve for Aaron.”
Pope and Ramsdale have each kept three clean sheets this season and their strengths lie in different areas.
While Ramsdale’s strengths lie in his distribution, Pope is arguably the best shot-stopper at England’s disposal.
No goalkeeper in the Premier League has made more saves this season than Pope with 30 and Seaman has been surprised with how much he’s had to do.
