The Latest – Republic FC
A busy week for Sacramento comes to a close, after two trips back East to face Louisville City, and Orlando City SC in the Open Cup Final. But a third match in eight days has been frequent for the club this season, and the squad should be ready for the challenge yet again.
Against Eastern Conference foes this season, Republic FC has claimed four wins and dropped points twice. Most recently, the club fell on the road to Louisville City last week, but before then posted four scores against Charleston Battery. A slim defeat against Birmingham was their only previous blemish in inter-conference play.
Opponent Report
Loudoun enters the match looking to fight off elimination from the postseason, as well as play spoiler to Sacramento’s hopes of top-four seeding. With the fewest points of any Eastern Conference side not yet out of the picture, a win is required to stay alive regardless of other results.
The club will also be looking to re-establish momentum following a tough one score loss to Pittsburgh on Sunday. Riverhounds SC challenged the Virginia club all night, but they hung around, nearly equalizing just before the break as well as at the hour mark. They cut their deficit to one in the final moments of the match from the penalty spot, but the Pennsylvania side held on for three points.

Just like their last league foe, Sacramento has never faced Loudoun United, whose debut season in USL Championship came in 2019. Entering the contest, Republic FC is 12-8-7 in league matches, claiming 43 points, and United is 7-17-3 with 24 points.
