Buckeyes Hold No. 12 Bulldogs Scoreless in 2-0 Win – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State remained undefeated after a 2-0 win over No. 12 Butler Friday at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. The Buckeyes have now recorded four-consecutive shutouts and 399 scoreless minutes in building a 4-0-1 record on the year.

Ohio State put pressure on the 3-1-1 Bulldogs early and maintained the effort the entire 90 minutes.

How it Happened

Freshman midfielder Marko Borkovic scored for the third time this season, all in Columbus, to give Ohio State the lead in the 48th minute. Butler turned the ball over to the left of its net and the Buckeyes took advantage. Borkovic got the ball and dribbled to the left of the net and punched it in for the Ohio State lead.

Senior Devyn Etling, seeing his first action of the season after missing four games with injury, subbed in during the second half and headed in his 14th career goal from a corner kick delivered by sophomore Anthony Samways in the 70th minute. Etling has played in 49 career games with 14 goals to his credit. Samways has three career assists.

Keagan McLaughlin recording his fourth-consecutive shutout. He has allowed just one goal in five games this season in keeping opponents scoreless over the last 399 minutes of game action.
