Women's Soccer Wraps Up Road Stretch At Missouri


CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The No. 1-ranked University of North Carolina women’s soccer team ends a three-game road stretch on Thursday, when the Tar Heels travel to Missouri to take on the homestanding Tigers at 1 p.m. ET.
 
There will be no live television coverage or video stream of the match. Live stats are available on statbroadcast.com.
 
This will be first match between Carolina and Missouri since 2010 and just the third meeting overall. UNC won both previous matches in the series, topping the Tigers 7-0 in Durham, N.C., in 2001 and 6-1 in Chapel Hill in their last meeting.
 
The Tar Heels opened their road stretch with a 2-0 win at Texas on Thursday August 25 followed by 6-0 triumph over Baylor on Sunday August 28 in Austin.
 
Missouri is coming off a 1-1 draw at Omaha on Sunday. The Tigers are 2-1-1 this season with wins over Southeast Missouri State and Southern Illinois and a loss at Ohio State. Junior defender Grace Pettet leads MU with two goals and Milena Fischer owns a team-high two assists.
 
SHOW ME SOCCER | The Tar Heels have played four previous matches in the Show Me State and are returning to Missouri for the first time since 1995. Carolina competed in the Collegiate America’s Cup in St. Louis in 1994 and 1995, and defeated California and Notre Dame in 1994 and FIU and Indiana the following year. Thursday’s game will be UNC’s first true road game in Missouri.
 
CAROLINA VS. THE SEC | Missouri is the Tar Heels’ second SEC opponent of the season. UNC opened the 2022 campaign with a 3-0 victory over Tennessee to improve to 63-9 (.875) all-time against current members of the SEC. UNC is 10-2-1 on the road at SEC opponents.
 
QUICK TRIP HOME | Freshman Maci Teater is a native of St. Louis, which is approximately 120 miles east of the University of Missouri campus. Teater attended Holt High School in Wentzville, Mo., but did not play high school soccer. Her club team was St. Louis Scott Gallagher. She made her UNC debut on Aug. 21 against UNCW, playing seven minutes, then saw 22 minutes of action against Baylor.
