COLUMBUS, Ohio – After a great opening road trip, No. 20 Ohio State returns home to host No. 9 BYU in a bi Top-20 showdown on Friday evening at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. The match will be televised nationally on the Big Ten Network. Dean Linke and Lauren Link will call the action.

Admission and parking are free for all Ohio State women’s soccer matches.

  • This will be just the fourth matchup between the two teams. BYU won 3-0 in Columbus in 2016, the teams tied 0-0 in Provo in 2017 and BYU won last year’s season-opener 3-0 in Provo.
  • The Buckeyes won their opener this year 1-0 at Kansas on Aug. 18 and then followed that with a 2-1 win at Kansas last Sunday.
  • Ohio State is the only program in the country to claim a pair of Power 5 road victories in the opening week. Arizona is the only other school to notch two Power 5 wins in the first week.
  • On the strength of the opening wins, Ohio State jumps back into the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 at No. 20 this week. This is the first time the Buckeyes have been ranked since April 11, 2021 when they were ranked No. 22.
  • Friday’s night’s match will be the first Top-20 showdown for Ohio State since Nov. 3, 2017 when the No. 9 Buckeyes fell 1-0 to No. 15 Penn State in the Big Ten Tournament.
  • The Buckeyes are 8-10-0 in Top-20 matchups with their last win coming on Sept. 1, 2011 when No. 15 OSU won 2-0 at No. 8 West Virginia.
  • The last win over a Top-10 opponent was a 1-0 victory at No. 5 Florida on Aug. 24, 2018.
  • Graduate Maddy Lowe scored her first goal in nearly three years when she netted the game-winner in the 80th minute at Missouri. Her last goal came on Oct. 17, 2019 vs. Northwestern.
  • Ohio State head coach Lori Walker-Hock is in her 26th season leading the program. She is 273-188-54 as the Buckeyes’ head coach and has won a pair of Big Ten regular season titles.
  • Seniors Talani Barnett and Kayla Fischer as well as sophomore Sydney Jones were all named Big Ten Women’s Soccer Players to Watch this fall.
  • The Buckeyes were picked by the league’s head coaches to finish fifth in the Big Ten Preseason Poll.
