It's Only The Start for Man Utd, Says Ten Hag After Downing Winless Liverpool

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag says Monday’s 2-1 home win over Liverpool is “only the start” for his new side as the pressure eases at Old Trafford.

The Dutchman took over at United in the off-season but endured two poor defeats to start the new Premier League campaign.

But United hit back with goals from Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford helping them to three points against their biggest rival, who are winless after three league games.

“I wanted a different approach, I wanted a different attitude, and that is what they bring on the pitch,” ten Hag said.

“That’s what makes me satisfied but it is only the start, we have to keep humble.

“But I think we can play a bit better if we have a little bit more composure, give an extra pass, we can be much more dangerous, because, as I said, we have good players with good ability, with good spirit and you will act.

“That is what we showed today, in moments, but also when you have to make the game, you have to be better on the ball.”

The loss is Liverpool’s first in the league in 2022, but nevertheless heaps pressure on the Reds who are already slipping off the title pace, with two points from three games.

On the ladder, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp said: “Not that we ignore it… its not the nicest thing to look at, thats clear, but its our situation.

“We can talk about all the things but in the end I saw tonight a game. Obviously we were not good enough to win the game.

“Our situation is how it is. It’s not perfect but good enough to play better tonight, and I think our situation is good enough that we could’ve won the game tonight if we would have played slightly better.”
