Pacific FC Loans Matthew Baldisimo to York United FC and Signs Midfielder Cedric Toussaint

Langford, BC – Longtime Pacific FC midfielder Matthew Baldisimo departs the club today after a four-season stint with the Tridents. ‘Baldi’ as he is known to fans, will join York United FC for the remaining season. In his place, Pacific FC has signed York United’s midfielder Cedric Toussaint.


“Baldi was one of our first signing and he’s been an integral part of the building process of our club and was part of our championship team,” said James Merriman, head coach, Pacific FC, “We wish him the very best in his football career and on behalf of the club we thank him for his commitment and dedication over four seasons.”

In his tenure with Pacific, Baldi played 4072 minutes, had 1691 accurate passes, at a rate of 85 per cent.

Toussaint is a native of Drummondville, Q. The 20-year-old arrived at York United in November 2020 having spent a number of years with the CF Montréal Academy. His debut campaign as a professional saw him make 26 appearances for The Nine Stripes across both the Canadian Premier League and Canadian Championship while he added a further 17 in the 2022 season and racked up an assist during the recent 4-2 win over HFX Wanderers.

“Cedric is an exciting young player with strong potential,” said Merriman. “We look forward to adding him to our group and expect him to work straight into the team.”

Pacific FC takes on Atlético Ottawa on Saturday, August 13 at 2 pm at Starlight Stadium. Next week, the club hosts the Scotiabank Concacaf League Round of 16 on Tuesday, August 16 at 7 pm against 29 time Costa Rican League Champions C.S. Herediano. This follows a club record 6-0 win at a CONCACAF home debut on August 2nd against Waterhouse FC.
