FC Cincinnati Represented at MLS All-Star Game for First Time

Academy: FC Cincinnati U13 and U14 Squads to Compete at 2022 Patterson Cup

FC Cincinnati players will take part in a busy Wednesday in Minnesota for the 2022 MLS All-Star Game at Allianz Field in Saint Paul (8:30 p.m. ET; ESPN/Univision). Brandon Vazquez and Luciano Acosta are part of the 26-man roster among the best of MLS to take on LIGA MX’s All-Stars for the 26th edition of the MLS All-Star Game.


FC Cincinnati fans are invited to cheer on Acosta and Vazquez when the duo represent the Orange and Blue as the first MLS All-Stars in club history at FCC’s All-Star Game Watch Party on Wednesday at Rhinegeist Brewery. The family-friendly event begins at 7:30 p.m.

The day gets started at the inaugural MLS NEXT All-Star Game, where FC Cincinnati Academy product and FCC 2 defender David Garcia will represent the East at National Sports Center in Blaine, MN. Fans can watch on Twitter, mlssoccer.com and the MLS app.

FC CINCINNATI ALL-STAR BIOS

Luciano Acosta – FC Cincinnati’s captain on July 12 was named the first All-Star in FCC history. The Argentine was a coach’s selection for the 2022 MLS All-Star Roster by Adrian Heath, Head Coach of the All-Star team and Minnesota United FC.

The Orange and Blue’s leader has produced a goal and/or an assist in all eight of FC Cincinnati’s wins this season. With his three-assist performance against Philadelphia Union this past Saturday, the first in club history, he catapulted back into the league-lead in assists (14).

In June he earned Player of the Month honors when he was recognized league-wide for his four goal contributions in just 137 minutes. A 2018 MLS Best XI selection with D.C. United, Acosta has 37 goals and 59 assists in his MLS career.

Acosta is the all-time FC Cincinnati leader with 24 assists in MLS competition, more than double any other player in FCC history.

Brandon Vazquez – It was later than Acosta’s selection, but Brandon Vazquez was named an All-Star on August 3 as a replacement for New York City FC’s Taty Castellanos. Vazquez, taking the league by storm, has scored the second-most goals in MLS this season at 14. None of his goals have come from the penalty spot, tied with Austin FC’s Sebastián Driussi for the most in that category.

Vazquez continues to reach new heights in club history. His 14 goals this season have long surpassed the club’s single-season record for goals (previously 8: Brenner, 2021). On Saturday against the Union, he became the first player in club history to hit the 20-goal mark for…
