Sevilla confirm capture of Manchester United outcast Alex Telles on a season-long loan… with the Spanish side to pay the Brazilian’s wages in full but they have no option to buy him

  • Man United left back Alex Telles has joined Sevilla on a season-long loan
  • The Spanish outfit have no option to buy the Brazilian at the end of the loan
  • The 29-year-old defender joined the Red Devils in October 2020 for £15.4million
  • However, Telles  played second fiddle to Luke Shaw, 27, in his debut campaign

Sevilla have confirmed they have signed out-of-favour Alex Telles on a season-long loan from Manchester United.

The LaLiga side have agreed to pay the Brazilian’s salary in full but there will be no loan fee or option to buy.

Telles travelled to Spain on Wednesday night for a medical ahead of joining the Spanish outfit having not been part of new manager Erik ten Hag‘s plans.

The Spanish side have also earmarked his United team-mate Eric Bailly as a potential replacement for Jules Kounde, who left for Barcelona last week.

Telles, 29, is surplus to requirements under Ten Hag, who has bought Tyrell Malacia to increase competition for Luke Shaw while Lisandro Martinez can also cover that position.

Brazilian full-back Telles, who joined United from Porto for £15.8million in 2020, made 26 appearances last season.

He has figured in pre-season friendlies and was among the goalscorers in last week’s behind closed doors friendly win over Wrexham.
